ITMA 2019 sets new record with biggest number of exhibitors

itma19-logo-details

Since its launch in 1951, ITMA has enjoyed wide industry recognition as the world’s largest textile and garment technology exhibition. This year’s exhibition in Barcelona sees its reputation solidify further with the largest gathering of exhibitors in its history. The record number of exhibitors totaling 1,717 from 45 countries has set a new milestone.

Speaking at the press conference on the opening day of the 18th edition of the exhibition, Mr Fritz P. Mayer, President of the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (CEMATEX), said: “The global economy is still facing challenges, accentuated by trade tensions and disruption. However, textile being the world’s oldest manufacturing industry has demonstrated its resilience over the years.

“This is also the spirit of our exhibitors who continually innovate and launch new technologies and solutions. We are glad that ITMA has been providing a reputable platform for textile machinery manufacturers to market their innovations. This has enabled us to record the largest number of exhibitors in ITMA’s history.”

The exhibits are showcased over 114,500 square metres of net exhibit space, a 9 per cent increase over the previous edition in 2015. The exhibition occupies all nine halls of the Gran Via venue, including the space under the linkway. To allow more companies to participate, many exhibitors were allocated lesser stand space than what they had originally applied for.

Mr Charles Beauduin, Chairman of ITMA Services, organiser of ITMA 2019 enthused: “The exhibition would have been larger if we had not turned away applicants due to a lack of space. Unfortunately, we could not accommodate a wait-list of about 250 applicants who booked some 8,200 square metres.”

He added: “ITMA has also evolved into a more international exhibition with a rich diversity of technology offerings from both East and West. Almost half of the total number of exhibitors are from non CEMATEX countries. This augurs well for the development of ITMA into a definitive textile and garment platform for the industry.”

International participation

Of the total number of exhibitors, over half are from CEMATEX countries; the balance comprising companies from other parts of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Reflecting the international composition of the participants, the largest number of exhibitors are from Italy (364 exhibitors), China (276 exhibitors), Germany (222 exhibitors), India (169 exhibitors) and Turkey (164 exhibitors).

CEMATEX countries continue to occupy the largest exhibit space, taking up 65% of the total net exhibit space. Italy booked 26% of the space, followed by Germany which booked 18%. The top non-CEMATEX countries are: Turkey with 9%, China with 8%, and India with 5% of the space booked.

Product sectors

Visitors can expect to source a wide range of integrated solutions across the entire value chain in 19 exhibit sectors. Printing, which has seen many advances being made in the last few years, is an exciting growth sector. Chalking up a 38 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors compared with the previous exhibition, it is one of the top five sectors at ITMA 2019:

  • Finishing – 325 exhibitors
  • Spinning – 281 exhibitors
  • Weaving – 182 exhibitors
  • Printing – 157 exhibitors
  • Knitting – 136 exhibitors

Nonwovens and technical textiles sectors due to their wide range of applications continue to be an important sector at ITMA 2019. Garment making, which has been impacted by digitalisation and fast fashion, is also making a bigger impact at ITMA.

Mr Mayer said, “We are extremely pleased to bring garment technology back in focus at ITMA. While ITMA has been traditionally strong in textile making technologies, we are glad that we are able to present garment making solutions from some of the world’s most renowned technology providers. There is an increase of 27 per cent in number of exhibitors as compared with ITMA 2015.”

Completing the entire value chain is the showcase on fibres, yarn and fabrics. The addition of innovative fabrics in the fibre and yarn chapter at ITMA further completes the sourcing experience for buyers.

Focus on innovation

The theme of ITMA 2019 is ‘Innovating the World of Textiles’. To support the innovation drive, CEMATEX has introduced the ITMA Innovation Lab.  A new umbrella branding of a series of activities, the Lab includes the Research and Innovation Pavilion, ITMA Speakers Platform, ITMA Sustainable Innovation Award and Innovation Video Showcase. Speakers from the industry have been invited to share their perspectives and experiences at the Speakers Platform which will be held from 21 to 25 June. A finance forum will also be held on 21 June.

Co-located events and industry engagement

To encourage the exchange of knowledge, collaboration and networking, several events are staged alongside ITMA 2019.

The ITMA-EDANA Nonwovens Forum and Textile Colourant and Chemical Leaders Forum have met with overwhelming response and seats have been added. Similar strong response has also been received by partner events, including the Better Cotton Initiative Seminar, European Digital Textile Conference, Tex-Summit Global, Planet Textiles, SAC & ZDHC Manufacturer Forum and Texmeeting by TEXFOR.

“The series of co-located events is part of ITMA’s outreach programme to engage industry partners and to create an inclusive platform for the global textile and garment community. We have over 190 international, regional and local organisations lending their support to our exhibition,” Mr Mayer said.

ITMA 2019 is held at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue till 26 June. The opening hours are from 10.00am to 6.00pm daily, except 26 June when the exhibition will end at 4.00pm. For more information, please visit www.itma.com or download the ITMA 2019 app.

IFEMA begins promoting PROMOGIFT 2017

12778952_1293863947307404_4686951481103123331_o

Promotion has now begun for the International Promotional Gift Fair PROMOGIFT 2017, organised by IFEMA, which will be held from 24 to 26 January 2017 in its usual place, Hall 12 of FERIA DE MADRID.

The prospects for this year are very good, especially following the positive results of last January’s fair, which boasted record attendance, with 6,044 professionals (22% more than in 2015) and 327 companies and brands taking part (including 195 direct exhibitors, 20.37% more than the previous year) and a gross surface area of 13,400 m2, an increase of 30%.

The latest PROMOGIFT fair has awakened great expectations in the promotional gift sector, so much so that hardly has advertising started, and with nine months still to go, 121 companies have already confirmed their attendance, demonstrating the great loyalty of the exhibitors from the last edition who have already reserved 8,897 m2 of exhibition space.

These figures once more confirm that PROMOGIFT is southern Europe’s leading promotional gift marketing and business platform due, in part, to the intense internationalisation campaign carried out in recent years.

In addition, the renewed support of associations such as AIMFAP, the Association of Importers, Wholesalers and Manufacturers of Promotional Material, and FYVAR, the Association of Manufacturers and Retailers of Articles for Promotions and Marketing, is also making a positive contribution to the positioning of PROMOGIFT.

These associations, together with some of the sector’s leading firms, make up the newly formed Organising Committee, which is highly representative and firmly committed to the Fair.

At the opening meeting of the Organising Committee, held at IFEMA on 14th April, issues such as the implementation of new sections and the upgrading of existing ones were tackled, with particular emphasis on the fields of machinery (for which there are already confirmations from 30 companies), work clothing and gourmet gifts, among others.

Measures will also be intensified to increase professional participation in the event in regard to the exhibitions and also to visitors focused exclusively on the promotional and advertising gift.

UNIBIKE 2016 IS SHOWING ITS COMMITMENT TO THE PUBLIC WITH MORE INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES

if_095792

The trade fair is taking place between 22–24 September at halls 12 and 14 of Feria de Madrid

The third trade fair will open one day early for professionals only, beginning on 22 September at 3:00 pm, while opening to the general public on Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th.

To facilitate access for as many bicycle aficionados as possible there will be special ticket rates for families and groups.

UNIBIKE 2016, The International Bicycle Fair, which is organised by IFEMA and AMBE, will take place for the third year from 3:00 pm on Thursday 22 September until 25 September, in halls 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid. Professionals and the general public will be presented with the latest products from bicycle sector brands. This event will mix it up once more, opening its doors exclusively to professionals from 3:00 pm on 22 September, and to the general public on 23 and 24 September. This means that UNIBIKE is bringing its opening and closing dates forward one day in response to the needs expressed by the sector.

With this announcement, growth is expected in all the event’s parameters, particularly in the international scope. The show will be characterised by a broad range of participatory activities geared towards visitors. In addition to having the by now traditional electric bike test track, this year the UNIBIKE will be creating a DEMO Area where people can ride anything from road bikes to MTBs. This means that in addition to improving and expanding the surface area dedicated to these activities, the Trade Fair will be shifting the exhibitions by making them more dynamic for visiting public at UNIBIKE on 23 and 24 September. Likewise, to facilitate access to as many bicycle aficionados as possible, there will be special ticket rates for families and groups.

With an exhibition area of more than 28,000 square metres and an additional 4000 m2 outdoors allocated for the activities, professionals, who get exclusive access on the first day of the fair, will find that UNIBIKE offers the best showcase in the industry of the latest new products and designs for the coming year.

In just two years, UNIBIKE has established itself as the major event in Spain for the bicycle sector, and one not to be missed by professionals, whose attendance numbers in 2015 increased by 55% against the previous year. Out of a total of 33,860 visitors, 6,367 were industry professionals, a figure that consolidates the International Bicycle Fair as the best window for brands to display their products.

Space dedicated to bicycle tourism
After the positive reception last year, UNIBIKE 2016 is once again allocating space especially for bicycle tourism. The space will include an exhibition featuring a variety of bicycle destinations, products and tourist services throughout Spain, including a fam trip, a workshop and technical conferences. This initiative aims to encourage the creation of a new tourism product to diversify the industry, foster inland tourism suggestions and help to break the markedly seasonal nature of tourism in our country. We believe it is an excellent opportunity to bring together all of the public and, especially, private stakeholders in the cycling tourism industry in Spain and put them in contact with their counterparts from abroad.

Marketing for UNIBIKE has already begun and on 12 April a meeting will take place to allocate spaces at Feria de Madrid.

UNIBIKE 2016, which is organised by IFEMA and AMBE, and promoted by Last Lap and Expobike Solutions, will be celebrating its third year from 22–24 September at halls 12 and 14 of Feria de Madrid.
