THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY COMMUNITY MEETS AT MECSPE 2023

The manufacturing industry community meets at MECSPE 2023: +52% over 2022 for a total of 59.845 trade visitors. Three days of full immersion in technological innovation and energy transition

The next edition of MECSPE will be held in Bari from Nov. 23-25, 2023, and then back to Bologna next year, March 6-8.

A journey into the future of industry among new technologies, energy transition and digital transformation. The 21st edition of MECSPE, Italy’s leading trade exhibition dedicated to the manufacturing industry, organized by Senaf, closed with a boom in visitors. There were 59,845,000 professionals (+52 percent over 2022) who filled the pavilions of BolognaFiere in the three-day event designed to celebrate the excellence of the sector, multiply business opportunities for companies and create new connections between companies, institutions and industry players. A success that involved not only Italian companies, but also international ones, with the presence of as many as nine delegations of visitors from foreign countries (Algeria, Egypt, Germany, India, Morocco, Poland, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey) in addition to the first Italo-German Summit on the themes of reshoring and new mobility. Now MECSPE is looking ahead to the next edition, which will see the event land in Bari, Italy, at the Fiera del Levante, Nov. 23-25, 2023. It is scheduled to return to Bologna to continue the exhibitions’ internationalization strategy from March 6 to 8, 2024.

The 2023 edition of MECSPE, which featured 2,034 exhibitors and 20 special initiatives, opened with an inaugural event attended by, among others, Maurizio Marchesini,  Confindustria Vice President for Supply Chains and Medium Enterprises. It was an opportunity to present data from the MECSPE Observatory, which certified the excellent state of health of the supply chain: almost eight out of ten companies closed the last four months of 2022 with a growing or stable turnover compared to the same period last year, to which is added the high level of satisfaction related to the performance of their company (positive for 68 percent of the sample). In addition, half of the companies believe they have the skills needed for the 4.0 transformation. A major challenge that will contribute a projected 385,330 new employees between now and the end of May.

The transitions the industry is facing, in Italy as in the rest of the world, will change the face of the supply chain,” commented  Ivo Alfonso Nardella, president of SenafThat is why we are especially proud of the large influx of visitors to MECSPE, which is increasingly a landmark for the community of manufacturing systems professionals. Special thanks go to the Emilia Romagna Region and the city of Bologna, which, by virtue of its connections and infrastructure, fosters the growth of MECSPE internationally. With this year’s edition, we opened a window on the future of manufacturing, accompanying institutions, companies and professionals to discover the most interesting innovations and technologies that can make a difference. Our exhibition is designed to foster collaboration among companies through the many networking opportunities, but it is also a unique time to create culture, to support that education without which it is impossible to interpret and govern the great changes that await us. Before returning to Bologna in 2024, MECSPE will be in Bari in November this year, with the aim of actively involving also the many excellences of Central and Southern Italy, which can make an important contribution to the challenges facing the industry.”

The Mecspe exhibition has not only consolidated its value of international interest, but has delivered the highest quality level for those who want to discuss, learn about and represent the innovative evolution of our country’s manufacturing system. – Emphasized Vincenzo Colla, Councillor for productive development and green economy, labor and training of the Emilia Romagna Region – We want to thank the organizers, the exhibitors of Mecspe for the quality they brought to the three-day event; we are proud to host an event of great quality in Bologna.”

Traininginnovation and sustainability were the focal elements of the exhibition and demonstration areas of MECSPE 2023. It was precisely to the impact on production systems of new sustainable mobility choices that the exhibition core of the fair was dedicated, a 2,000-square-meter exhibition area entitled Energy Transition and Future Mobility, which, with a focus on the production chains of electrichydrogen and biofuel vehicles, was well attended. Also on the topic of sustainable mobility, MECSPE organized the international forum “2035 AND THE AUTOMOTIVE CHAIN: Changing the Production Model to Respond to a Technological Transformation, „in cooperation with the Tecniche Nuove Group, The German-Italian Chamber of Commerce , and the Industrial Fairs Division of Messe Stuttgart.

A great result for the first edition of Elettronica Italia, was the show held concurrently with MECSPE, which garnered strong interest from visiting companies thanks to its two focuses, on electronics in sustainable mobility and semiconductors, with important growth potential for the future. Extraordinary participation also for the two events organized by METEF: the Aluminium Energy Summit, among the most successful moments of the exhibition heart, and the International Innovation Awardboth dedicated to an element that in Italy constitutes 42 percent of all metal used annually. Talking of awards, the Solution Award – Robotics Innovation Award for the best industrial or service robotics application made by Italian companies was particularly followed.

Great success for EMO MILANO 2021: over 60,000 visitors and 91 represented countries

With EMO MILANO 2021, the world manufacturing industry of machine tools, robots and automation systems launches the new post-pandemic era

EMO MILANO 2021, the world trade show dedicated to the metalworking sector held at the Exhibition Centre of fieramilano Rho, closed last Saturday, 9 October.

Promoted by CECIMO, the European Association of Machine Tool Industries, and organised by the operational structures of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Italian machine tools, robots and automation systems Manufacturers’ Association, EMO MILANO 2021 registered more than 60,000 visitors coming from 91 countries.

Luigi Galdabini, General Commissioner of EMO MILANO 2021, stated: “The exhibition data confirm the value of the event, considered as the appointment of reference for the worldwide manufacturing industry of machine tools, robots and automation systems”.

“In such a complicated, historic moment, where the public health emergency is not yet completely over – continued Luigi Galdabini – EMO showed its importance, drawing all those operators to Milan, who could have the green light to move from their countries of origin. Moreover, the participation of the operators, coming not only from Europe, also proves the attractiveness of Italy, regarded as one of the most interesting and promising markets, as well as a leading manufacturing country in the sector”.

Alfredo Mariotti, Director of the Exhibition, pointed out: “A very large number of exhibitors have expressed their full satisfaction with the results achieved over these six exhibition days. “Qualified and very motivated visitors”, “A duly organised trade show in all its details and not least those related to safety”: these are the most common expressions of appreciation received both from habitual exhibitors of the world metalworking trade show and from companies who did not have particular, previous participation experiences”.

“The work carried out by the EMOteam – concluded Director Alfredo Mariotti – has been appreciated by Italian and foreign operators, who also expressed their satisfaction on the social media, thus supporting the climate of trust that characterises the sector and regarded EMO MILANO 2021 as the event launching the post-pandemic era”.

Despite the mobility restrictions still in force, EMO MILANO confirmed its international character even on this occasion. Foreign exhibitors accounted for 60% of the total, whereas foreign visitors made up 30% of the overall number.

An absolute attraction for the operators of the world manufacturing industry was the wide product offering on show, representing all the segments of the sector, expression of the production proposal of over 700 enterprises, exhibited within 6 halls completely set up for the event and covering 100,000 square meters of overall exhibition area.

Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Turkey, Poland, Russia and Denmark were the most represented countries at the trade show, which was also attended by numerous operators from Finland, Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary, Czech Republic, USA, Great Britain, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Ireland and Egypt.

Among the foreign visitors, there were also over 30 qualified foreign operators participating in the business missions organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE in cooperation with MAECI and ICE-Italian Trade Agency, as well as 30 members of an autonomous delegation from Turkey. The matching activity organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE has materialised into 1,200 meetings arranged at the stands of the Exhibitors that took part in the initiative.

Besides registering the users’ interest, EMO MILANO 2021 attracted the attention of the international press: about 400 accredited journalists, of whom 40% were from abroad.

Students also confirmed their interest for the event. Young visitors were 1,300, including students from Technical High Schools, Universities and ITS-Higher Technical Schools, who visited the exhibition accompanied by their teachers.  Among them, 450 were escorted on guided tours by tutors of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE.

Beside the technology offering, EMO MILANO 2021 featured numerous side initiatives, such as EMO Digital, the exhibition area focused on digital technologies; EMO Additive Manufacturing, dedicated to one of the most promising fields of the manufacturing production; EMO Start-Up, which offered an overlook of new enterprises working on the development of products and projects related to the world of production systems and metalworking.

A novelty of EMO MILANO 2021 was the Speakers Corner, the arena set up in Hall 5, which proposed over 80 speeches and in-depth analyses and discussions by exhibitors and organisers. In addition, 20 meetings were hosted within the EMO ADDITIVE area, arranged by AITA-ITALIAN ASSOCIATION OF ADDITIVE TECHNOLOGIES. Over 2,000 attendees registered for the meetings, in addition to about 3,000 remotely connected users (for an average of 500 users per day), who, over the six exhibition days, were able to follow the events held at the trade show thanks to the live streaming service.

The interest in the exhibition is highlighted also by the consultation statistics of the exhibition website. Over 800,000 views were recorded on emo-milano.com: from Italy, Germany and Switzerland, followed by the USA, France, Spain and Japan.

These figures are added to the 600,000 views registered on the Smart Catalog, the official catalogue of the exhibition, viewed mainly by mobile phones.

The social community of EMO MILANO reported a remarkable growth, from 2,770 users in 2015 to 9,440 followers recorded on 10 October 2021.

Among all Exhibition profiles – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn – LinkedIn had the highest activity. In the period 13 September 2021 – 10 October 2021, there were over 23,000 page views (+809%), about 7,500 single users for 330,000 views of the posts published on the official profile of the trade show.

The next edition of EMO MILANO will take place in October 2027.

SIMAC TANNING TECH BUCKS THE TREND

37837087_661504027535943_6794733460222115840_o.jpgSIMAC TANNING TECH 2019 ended against the prevailing trend of the current international economic context. The large visitor turnout matched the record levels of February 2018, before the signs of the slowdown that characterized the second half of last year started to appear. And all had very clear ideas on the machinery and technology they wanted to see.

Indeed, the high standard of the operators who came to Milan is demonstrated by figures showing a surge in online accreditation procedures, with more than 5500 applications from all over the world, much more than those completed at the exhibition. This proves that the visits to SIMAC TANNING TECH were not improvised but planned well in advance.

“The exhibitors’ efforts to present well-performing, safe and eco-friendly systems and technology and to respond to all production demands were rewarded. This is an approach– says SIMAC TANNING TECH President Gabriella Marchioni Bocca– that Italian industry, which represents approximately 50% of global exports in the sector, has launched and intends to pursue with firm commitment. It is no coincidence that ASSOMAC, the Association representing manufacturers of technology for the footwear, leather-goods and tanning industries, has developed the “Supplier of Sustainable Technologies” project, of which the Green Label is its most tangible feature; it is voluntary and offers third-party certification of the CFP (carbon footprint) impact of machinery manufactured by a company.”

There was also great satisfaction on the part of the 160 operators in the foreign delegations invited to visit the event as a result of a partnership with the Italian Trade Agency. On Friday 22, its President Carlo Ferro visited the exhibition. The operators – from Bosnia Herzegovina, China, Egypt, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Tunisia, Uzbekistan and Vietnam – were all impressed by the high standard of the machinery and technology exhibited on the stands.

In our country– said a footwear entrepreneur in the Chinese delegation significantly – we have realized that the way to remain competitive, partly in response to rising costs in general, is to adopt ever better performing production systems. And we can only find the most innovative solutions here in Milan, at SIMAC TANNING TECH.”

The positive comments by operators from Uzbekistan where large investments are being made in the tanning and footwear sector, partly thanks to public funding, were also very interesting.

Vietnam is the world’s second largest footwear exporter after China and the Vietnamese delegation included two officials from the Ministry of Industry, come to Italy to “study the opportunities offered by the new Industry 4.0 technology.” It is also about to introduce ad hoc measures to facilitate the importation of innovative technology.

Now, we must await the follow-up results. Will the great interest shown at the exhibition in Milan translate into actual contracts in the near future?

Much will depend on the international economic situation:  the financial, currency and geopolitical “tumult”; the “trade war” between Beijing and Washington, which fortunately seems to be dying down; and the durability of key countries such as India and Indonesia where general elections are being held this year.

See you at 2020

Great success for the first edition of the Salone Nautico Venezia

The public responds en masse to the appeal of the“people of the sea”, more than 27 thousand entrances. The event immediately proves to be a reference for the world of recreational boating, strong of its dual commercial and cultural nature.

The curtain closes on the Venice Boat Show, with extreme satisfaction of the organizers but especially of those who participated, exhibitors and public. The objectives of the premises, summarized in the claim that animated the week “The Naval Art Back to Home”, were achieved with full satisfaction. The Salone Nautico di Venezia enters in full title in the group of the manifestations dedicated to the nautical one from diporto to visit. And it does so with a new approach, demonstrating a strong cultural vocation, as the place that welcomes it deserves. Visitors were amazed by the atmosphere and could not be otherwise: the art of camouflage that since 1200 has populated the walls, piers and basin still feel. It amplifies in the colors of the sunset, in the lights and shadows that enter the tense that hosted the stands. During the Salone, in the various venues dedicated to conferences, 43 meetings were held in which it was possible to discuss all aspects of navigation: from the environment to sustainability, yacht design, accompanied by 8 exhibitions on the themes of boating, sea and transport.

As the Mayor of the city has declared, Luigi brugnaro: “Venice has returned as queen of the seas in the most open cultural sense possible. We have shown our skills in the design and architecture of the building, also recovering traditional activities. In these days Venice has remarried the sea. As a municipal administration we have already financed the Salone for two more years. We do not want this edition to be an impromptu event, indeed the goal we have set is that it becomes a fixed appointment so much that we have already started to collect registrations for the next edition. We will treasure the mistakes and do even better. We want to have the whole supply chain, from small boats to big ones. And in the next editions not only the Arsenal will be involved but the whole city will get started, as already started”. The Venice Boat Show has laid a first stone solid, important, marking a total change of pace and gear with respect to the past of events dedicated to the pleasure that had not managed to get out of the local dimension. The choice of the Ferretti Group to use the Arsenal for the inaugural party of the ship of 50 meters Riva “Race” and for the world premiere presentation to the public of the motoryacht Custom Line 107 are witnesses of a well-placed trust. L’Arsenale lives: Art with the Biennale and naval art with the Venice Boat Show. A new life that deserves in full: it is a pier towards the future of the Adriatic and the Mediterranean. A response to the needs of the shipyards that have their production units in the Adriatic, to those who sail along the tourist corridor that leads from Venice to Istanbul via Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece. A Salon that was not there and that will serve to the future of the nautical one from diporto, developing also the topic of the hybrid and electric propulsions.
